The family and me had a great time at half term staying in the Lake District, and I thought I’d share some photos. Unfortunately the weather was rather typical for the Lake District, so some of the pictures are rather ‘moody’ but nevertheless beautiful!

We did lots of biking and walking and eating! A true delight was a day spent with the kids at Beatrix Potter’s house and then getting the ferry to Bowness to the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction.

The house we were staying in with extended family, it was gorgeous! Part of a complex in the grounds of Graythwaite Hall near lake Windermere.
Because of the wet conditions, I only took my new camera out on one occasion, but these pictures are all snapped within a few hundred metres of where we were staying
There were beautiful views across the estate

And despite the dampness, there were signs of spring! Hurray!
The mosses and lichens were amazing – it must be all that rain!

This funny fellow was our door knocker!

This looks like a gateway into a secret garden, but in fact it was a sheep field. We left our gate open one night by mistake and woke to find the yard full of sheep!

More photos next week that were taken by Gary (with the other camera) on his walk up Helvellyn.

I hope your half term was great, too :)

    thanks :)
I love the green mossy ones, best. I was wishing all week that my macro lens had arrived in time, so that I could get all the detail.
