I’ve always thought wouldn’t it be great to take a picture of a particular view you love on the first day of the month, every month, for a year? Documenting the changing seasons, the light, and the general changes.

This year, as one of my goals, I decided to finally get round to making it happen. I would have posted this sooner, but I’ve been ill the last few days.

Above is the view from my home office window, a completely inspiring view. I wouldn’t like to tally the amount of time I have spent gazing out at that view when I should be working!

You are looking at Machpelah woods, across the valley from me in Hebden Bridge, with the beautiful stone houses nestling underneath.

Admittedly it was a very dark day when I took this picture, but that’s kind of the point, I’ll take the picture on the 1st of the month, whatever the weather. At the moment there is snow flurrying down, settling on the floor of the woods, but it would be cheating to use that one, now, wouldn’t it?

What a lovely idea and what a lovely view to be inspired by !
You made me think again about my morning dog walks . I always remember the treats and poo bags but really want to get into the habit of taking my camera.
THANK YOU for another 'easy' ( that is for people who have a brain ! )New Year's Resolution !

Glad you liked it! You can still do once a week as it's the 8th today, right? Mind you, it gets a bit heavy sometimes… when we went on holiday, I had to get someone to do it for me(!)

Hi Jen, thanks so much for letting me know about your photolog, I had a look and it was really interesting to see the changes, wet days and random cat's appearing. Not to mention the plight of your potatoes!
very inspiring, wish I'd thought of doing once a week myself….

Cool!! Will be interested to see how this pans out :) I did something similar a couple of years ago, taking weekly photos (on a Tuesday, as 1st January was a Tuesday) – mine were of the view from my bedroom window, incorporating Banksfields above Mytholmroyd: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenkd/sets/72157603614453155/

    What a good idea,

You should do it everyday and then make a slide show.

I was walking in your general direction yesterday, it is a beautiful part of the world.
