As the snow piled down on Friday evening, I made a difficult decision. After looking at the weather forecast I decided to cancel my booking for 100% Handmade in Ilkley on Saturday, as although the weather looked like the snow would be melting over that way, the forecast was for more snow here in Hebden Bridge and I didn’t want to be stranded, as I travel over the moors to get Ilkley. Gary had a nightmare couple of days last week nearly getting stranded in Shipley after leaving for work when the weather didn’t seem too bad, but snow was forecast.
Talk about disappointed! I found out later that a couple of other people from over this way had risked it, and were fine because the snow never came. I’m so gutted!
Our other weekend plans were to go out later on (weather permitting!) to the Faithless concert at the MEN arena in Manchester, and stay overnight in an apartment in central Manchester, meeting some friends there. So exciting, but all week we were thinking it wouldn’t happen because of the weather. We so rarely get the chance to go out, never mind something this exciting!
Gary was going to drop the kids off at the Grandparents near Wigan on Saturday. As I wasn’t going to the craft fair, we decided we would all to Wigan, so if we did get stranded, although we would miss out on our exciting (and expensive!) plans, at least we would all be in one place together.
As it turned out, we got to the Grandparents ok, dropped off the kids and got a train from there to Manchester. We managed to do some shopping, went to get ready in our apartment (which was wonderful, I would certainly recommend it) then we went for a meal and went to the gig!
The MEN arena is massive, our first time there was a brilliant experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves :)
Faithless were fantastic ~ have a listen!
There was no snow in Manchester, and we had such a brilliant time.
It was great to catch up with our friends, and it gave me a chance to give Anisa the earrings I made for her birthday. I used a Swarovski rondelle (which she simply MUST have in her jewellery!), with large baroque silver pearls and rough faceted labradorite beads on a vintage-style lever earring.
A photo on the train on the way back to Wigan, freezing fog, grubby window and the setting sun. I’m no photographer, but I thought it looked rather romantic…
What a mixed bag of a weekend!
