I went to a friend’s house last week, and was admiring a collection of various mismatched cobalt blue bottles she had on her windowsill. It looked amazing, and I have always loved the intense poison-bottle blue colour.

Then I remembered I actually had loads of blue bottles I used to collect sat on top of the cupboards in my kitchen, collecting dust! I had got bored of them to be honest, and never really found anywhere to put them in this house where they looked good.

Instead of being on a shelf, I just needed to put them on a windowsill. Something which I couldn’t have done until recently as our (now sadly too decrepit) cat would have knocked them off, or the kids would have.

Anyway, I got them down and after a good wash out, put them on the windowsill in the kitchen, and I’ve been really cheered by the sight of them whenever I go in. Now, there’s something for nothing!

Yes, I definitely could do with some more antique blue jars, mine are modern ones I have collected as I have used the contents! Poison bottles must be my next goal. I have a hot tip on where I can get some, locally, now too.

Glad to hear you dusted them off! I never get bored with cobalt – I have a collection of apothecary bottles, pharmacy jars and scent bottles, and can look at and fondle them all day long!!!

I just want to be enveloped in that blue (maybe that's just me…) I really can't believe that they have been on top of a cupboard for 5 years!

Thanks for your comments, and yes, gorgeous, there was definitely a voice saying 'keep them' !

    hey gorgeous! stunning colour!

see, there's a reason why that little voice in your head says "keep" when you know you have no use for them and should probably get rid!

    have a great day lovely!
